PPR Double Union Ball Valves: Key Features & Applications
A practical guide to PN16 Brass PPR Double Union Ball Valve, covering its core features, household/engineering/fire protection applications, advantages, and key purchase & installation tips; it is a vital safety accessory for water supply systems.

What Is It?

PN16: Its pressure rating, meaning it can withstand a maximum pressure of 1.6 MPa (approx. 16 kg/cm²). It easily handles standard water pressure in household and fire protection pipelines, ensuring excellent safety.
Brass: The core material of the valve body. Brass is corrosion-resistant, high-strength, and long-lasting – a premium material for water valves. It lasts several times longer than ordinary iron valves and won’t seize up from rust after years of use.
PPR: The white ends are PPR heat-fusion connections, perfectly compatible with standard PPR pipes used in home renovations. They can be directly heat-welded for a tight, leak-proof seal.
Double Union: A game-changing design with movable nuts on both ends. Unlike standard valves that are permanently welded in place – requiring wall demolition for replacement – double union valves can be easily unscrewed and removed for repairs, making maintenance incredibly convenient.
Ball Valve: Features a simple operating mechanism with a perforated brass ball inside. A 90° turn of the handle aligns the hole with the pipe for full flow, or perpendicular to shut off flow completely. It opens and closes in one step, unlike old-style globe valves that often fail to seal tightly.
Lockable: Some models include a locking function to fix the valve in open/closed position, preventing accidental operation – ideal for public areas and fire protection pipelines.
In short, it’s a durable, easy-to-maintain, quick-acting water switch designed for PPR piping, an essential component in residential and fire protection water supply systems.
Where Is It Used?

🏠 Residential Applications (Most Common)
Main household water shut-off: Controls the entire home’s water supply. Turn it off for repairs, extended trips, or to cut off water safely.
Water heater / water purifier inlet: Isolate individual appliances for maintenance without shutting off water to the whole house.
Toilet / wash basin supply: Individual shut-off valves for bathroom fixtures, enabling targeted repairs.
Solar water heater / underfloor heating: Resistant to high temperature and pressure, suitable for both hot and cold water lines.
🏭 Commercial & Fire Protection Applications
Community secondary water supply & building pipelines: Used as zone control valves for property maintenance.
Fire protection water systems: Meets fire safety pressure requirements for controlling fire water supply.
Factory & commercial plumbing: Available in common sizes (20–32mm, corresponding to 1/2”, 3/4”, 1” pipes) for industrial and commercial use with stable, long-lasting performance.
Why Is It So Popular? Key Advantages
✅ One-touch operation
The ball design opens and closes with a 90° turn, unlike multi-turn globe valves. Easy for all users, with full shut-off and no partial leakage.
✅ Hassle-free maintenance, no wall demolition
The double union design eliminates the need to cut or damage pipes. Simply unscrew both union nuts to replace the valve in minutes.
✅ PPR-compatible, fully sealed
Heat-fused PPR connections integrate seamlessly with pipes, creating a permanent, leak-proof joint specifically for PPR systems.
✅ Brass construction, extremely durable
Brass valve body with stainless steel ball core resists corrosion, aging, and high temperatures for both hot and cold water. Lasts for decades without seizing or leaking, unlike iron valves.
✅ Rated pressure ensures safety
PN16 rating easily satisfies household and fire protection water pressure demands, even in high-rise buildings, preventing valve failure or bursting.
