Introduction to PTS Type Water-Foam Dual-Purpose Fire Sprinkler

The PTS Type Water-Foam Dual-Purpose Fire Sprinkler is a core component of fire-extinguishing systems, primarily crafted from brass (with stainless steel also available as an option). Its defining feature is its dual functionality—capable of spraying both water and foam—making it widely used in fire prevention and control scenarios such as petrochemical plants, storage tank areas, terminals, and oil depots.

1. What is a PTS Type Water-Foam Dual-Purpose Fire Sprinkler?

It is a key component of fire extinguishing systems, made of full copper material, with dual functions of spraying water and foam. It is commonly used for fire prevention and control in petrochemical plants, storage tank areas and other places. Its special top structure enables uniform dispersion of water or foam, expanding the coverage area and improving fire extinguishing efficiency. It is a core component for precise and efficient fire extinguishing in water-foam combined fire extinguishing systems.

2. What are the Core Advantages?

Strong functional versatility: It can realize two fire extinguishing functions (water spraying and foam spraying) simultaneously. It can flexibly switch media according to fire types (such as ordinary solid fires or oil fires), adapting to various fire scenarios and enhancing the pertinence and effectiveness of fire extinguishing.
High fire extinguishing efficiency: Its special structural design allows uniform dispersion of water or foam, expanding the coverage area and enhancing the wrapping property of the fire source. It can quickly suppress the spread of fire and shorten the fire extinguishing time.
Durable and reliable material: Made of full copper, it has good corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance. It can work stably for a long time in complex chemical, storage tank and other places, with a long service life and reduced maintenance and replacement costs.
Wide application range: Suitable for petrochemical plants, storage tank areas, terminals and other places with multiple fire risks. Especially in extinguishing oil fires, the covering and suffocating effects of foam medium can effectively control the fire and ensure the safety of the place.

3. Features and Technical Barriers

Features

  • Dual-medium adaptability: Compatible with both water and foam fire extinguishing agents (such as protein foam, synthetic foam, etc.). It can realize the injection of different fire extinguishing media through simple switching, enabling precise fire extinguishing for different types of fires such as solid fires and oil fires.
  • Optimized injection form: The toothed dispersion structure on the top and the diversion design in the middle make the medium form a uniform umbrella-shaped covering layer when sprayed. It can quickly form a foam covering layer in oil fires to suffocate the fire; in solid fires, the dispersion of water flow improves the cooling efficiency.
  • Material and durability: Made of brass or stainless steel, it has good corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, suitable for harsh environments such as chemical industry and marine, with a service life of more than 10 years.
  • Convenient installation and maintenance: Adopts standard threaded interface, no special tools required for installation; daily maintenance only needs to regularly clean the nozzle debris to ensure smooth injection.
    Technical Barriers
Dual-medium flow channel design: It is necessary to design two sets of independent flow channel systems (water channel and foam channel) in the same sprinkler, which not only ensures the stable flow of each medium but also avoids medium cross-flow.
Control of foam dispersion uniformity: The expansion ratio (required to be 6~8 times, for example) and stability of the foam fire extinguishing agent must be strictly controlled through the sprinkler structure.

4. Application Scenarios

Petrochemical field: Production equipment areas, storage tank areas of refineries and chemical plants, etc.
Terminals and ports: Loading and unloading areas of terminals, ship berthing areas, etc.
Oil depots and logistics warehousing centers: Various crude oil and refined oil warehouses, and warehouses storing oil products, chemical products, etc.
Automobile manufacturing and maintenance workshops: Areas involving oil storage and use, such as automobile painting workshops, oil warehouses, etc.

5. Installation Notes and Usage Methods

Installation Notes
Installation environment: Should be installed in places without severe vibration, strong corrosive gas and dust blockage. Ensure there are no obstacles around the sprinkler to avoid affecting the spray range. The general installation spacing is no more than 3 meters to ensure effective coverage in case of fire. For outdoor installation, anti-freezing and sun protection measures should be taken, such as installing thermal insulation sleeves and sunshades to prevent low-temperature freezing cracks or high-temperature aging.
Installation operation: Before installation, the pipeline should be flushed to remove debris, rust, etc. in the pipeline to prevent blocking the sprinkler. Then connect with standard threads, and use appropriate tools during installation.
Compatibility check: Ensure it matches the pipeline material and pressure level of the fire protection system. For foam fire extinguishing systems, ensure the type of foam concentrate (such as protein foam, synthetic foam) is compatible with the sprinkler to avoid affecting the foaming effect of the foam.
Usage Methods
Medium switching: Switch the medium according to the fire type. In case of oil fire, start the foam fire extinguishing system to spray foam through the sprinkler; in case of ordinary solid fire, start the water fire extinguishing system to spray water for fire extinguishing.
Inspection and testing: Regularly inspect the appearance of the sprinkler to check for corrosion, damage and blockage. If there is debris on the sprinkler, gently clean it with a soft brush to avoid damaging the sprinkler structure. Regularly test the system by simulating fire scenarios to test whether the water spraying and foam spraying functions of the sprinkler are normal, and check whether the spray form is uniform and the pressure is stable.
